Nestled in Pennsylvania's picturesque Lehigh Valley, the Lafayette Inn offers guests a tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This elegant three-story turn-of-the-century brick mansion built in 1895 is situated just two blocks from the Lafayette College campus in the historic town of Easton. The inn is secluded in an acre of lawn shaded by oaks, yet just a short walk to the historic downtown. Since January 1997, the Bushnell family has invited guests to enjoy the contemporary comforts of their inn blended with an old world charm. Their attentive service ensures that guests receive the experience of an inn rather than a downtown hotel.

Whether planning a romantic getaway, an overnight stay or a business trip, the Lafayette Inn has a room that is just right. Since people have different tastes, the Bushnells have created eighteen unique rooms, each with its own personality. Five of the rooms are upscale rooms with fireplaces and Jacuzzi or oversized soaking tubs. Three of the five rooms are two-room suites with a balcony or patio. One room has a full kitchen that is ideal for the longer staying guest or family. The inn also features seven larger rooms with a king or two double beds and five regular rooms with a queen bed, three of which have skylights. All rooms, which are equipped with private baths, TV/VCR's and telephones with dataports, provide a warm haven after a fun-filled day.

Breakfast RoomFood is a prominent part of any stay at the Lafayette Inn. Guests are awakened to the alluring aromas of a full breakfast each morning, offering traditional breakfast favorites as well as gourmet specialities. Beginning with fresh juices and special blends of tea, guests are treated to homemade baked goods, such as banana bread or apple crisp, followed by a hot entree. While the entree varies daily, it might include a savory garden omelet, waffles topped with fruit or an egg casserole filled with cheddar cheese and broccoli. Guests may choose to eat breakfast in the cheerful breakfast sunroom, the wrap-around porch or in front of the fireplace in the formal parlor. Each afternoon, homemade cookies warmly welcome new guests checking in and old guests returning from a day of explorations.

Drenched in history, Easton was the site of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence, on July 8, 1776. Easton was one of only three colonial cities where the Declaration of Independence was publicly read. Each year the town holds a festival on July 8 to celebrate the importance of this event. Modern Easton boasts attractions such as the Crayola Factory, which is composed of a series of fun stations, each promoting appealing activities using Crayola products. The Crayola Factory is located at Two Rivers Landing in a three-story brick building that is cohabited by the National Canal Museum. During the summer months, visitors may also consider taking an authentic canal boat ride on the Josiah White II. This 30 minute mule-drawn ride along the Lehigh Canal is narrated by costumed actors. For the energized, there are major skiing, fishing and golfing destinations that surround the city. The neighboring hillsides are draped with vineyards and orchards which crisscross abundantly with local parks and hiking trails, such as the Appalachian Trail. The delightful wineries have tours and tastings daily and various festivals throughout the year.
